OUNI x COFFEE KLATCH
Dear troopers,
Ever wondered how my place looks like? How many MCM stuff I have? How many Polaroids I have stored in my home?
If you are from Belgium and/or you speak Dutch, you’ve probably seen and/or read this OUNI x COFFEE KLATCH feature before.
I’m throwing this back at you, because this more than excellent blog, made with blood, sweat and tears by the hands of Magali Elali & Bart Kiggen has now a legit English version of all their ‘creative chitchat’ content, and I know for a fact, that some of my internationals folks might appreciate this.
They interviewed some pretty amazing and interesting Belgian people like designer Sofie Claes, street artist Bue The Warrior, creative duo Uber & Kosher, Essentiel designer Distortom, photographer Zeb Daemen, soprano Elise Caluwaerts, designers Jan Jan & Pietro and…
me!
Yeah, I’m in prrrrretty good company. Can’t believe it myself actually.
So if you’re eager to find out how & where I live, how much polaroids I réally have, where my love for MCM comes from…
and so many other questions other journalists failed to ask me…
then you can catch up on my interview entirely in English with COFFEE KLATCH here.
WEEKEND BLOG AWARDS
Yooooooooooooo!!!
I’m nominated for the WEEKEND BLOG AWARDS in the category PHOTOGRAPHY.
Now ain’t that something!
Really nice that a medium like WEEKEND.BE is organizing this to shine a little light on some of Belgian’s most interesting blogs and I’m happy to be amongst them.
I do miss my friends from Brussels Is Burning in the french ‘City Blog’ category and I secretly wonder why there isn’t a category with ‘Music Blogs’ as a whole instead of ‘Entertainment’, then again, my chances of winning against Disco Naivité would have been zip-zero-nada.
So dear troopers, I kindly ask you to vote for me, a little competition is always fun (I’m a lion after all) then again, being nominated is great already, because it comes with the opportunity to introduce this little blog to plenty of folks who probably never heard of that ‘chick with the Polaroid’.
You can vote here
Note –> You hàve to get through àll the categories in order to vote for me in the ‘Fotografie’ category though…)
May the best one win….
Love,
Ouni
[PRESS] THE WORD MAGAZINE x A POLAROID STORY
Very happy and proud to announce that my little blog made it into one of my favorite magazines, THE WORD.
I’m featured in THE YELLOW ALBUM‘s photography special, a feature focussing on Polaroid projects the magazine took a shine to, together with Gilles Kasverdenko’s PORNALOID, a blog I’m very fond of myself.
I love The Word for their specific and carefully chosen topics, excellent, raw, ‘in your face’ photography and their fashion editorials.
Check out this video from the fashion edit that went with the Yellow Album.
Not bad right? And uhm…Can somebody tell Sébastian Bonin I want to work with him.
Big shout out to THE WORD mag for the love and support. You can also check out the complete feature online here.
ps: My real troopers might notice a Polaroid that I have not yet published the story around… I will post this story tonight around midnight. Stay frosty for that one…
Love,
Ouni
[PRESS] DS MAGAZINE x OUNI
Small press feature in Belgian quality newspaper DE STANDAARD weekend edition.
The feature is about what SUNDAY means for me and basically it means:
Sleeping late, enjoy a late breakfast, if the weather is nice hang on the beach of Ostend, have a good ol’ PIMM’S in Copador or Lafayette around aperitive hour, and finish the night with listening to Lefto’s radio show and/or Laid Back Radio.
Simple. Just like that.
The feature came with a picture shot by photographer CHARLIE DEKEERSMAEKER, who you may or may not remember from this Ouni Inc feature.
Special thanks to BravoSix for getting me a DS copy. Newspaper was completely sold out in Ostend!
[PRESS] DE MORGEN MAGAZINE x A POLAROID STORY
Ostend, 14/05/11
Very happy about this beautiful press feature in Belgian weekend edition of the DE MORGEN newspaper for their photography special.
The feature is about ‘Analogue survivors and their love for slow photography’ and why we choose to do what we do in this digital era.
I’m featured together with MAX PINCKERS (Lomo photography) and KURT DERUYTER (analogue photography)
Accompanied with the press feature came this amazing picture shot by Belgian photographer GUY KOKKEN.
Thank you GUY for this beautiful picture and special thanks to DE MORGEN for featuring this little blog…

ONE MINUTE PORTRAIT
Antwerp, 16/10/10
Check out this sweet one minute portrait DENNIS SWIATKOWSKI made of me.
It’s like… ‘A POLAROID STORY…THE COMMERCIAL’ (read this with a very soft, whispering voice)
Or something. Hahahaha.
I met Dennis a little while ago on this FRESHCOTTON x BLEND MAGAZINE collaboration in Amsterdam. Meeting new people is always nice, but sometimes you meet somebody new and you immediately click, and well… that’s even nicer.
I felt right at ease with Dennis, he had a laid back but funny vibe about him and we quickly found out we had the same point of view on stuff. He told me about his one minute portrait concept he was working on and asked if I wanted to be a part of it, and I happily accepted his invitation.
It took us a while to match agenda’s and because Ostend was a bit too far, we decided to split distance and shoot at the Antwerp harbour. Dennis’ main idea was to shoot a one minute portrait of different individuals for his blog called GET YOUR PLANE RIGHT ON TIME.
I like the fact that it’s shot by the harbour and by water, and that the surroundings aren’t perfect. Because my world isn’t either. I even like the barbwire I’m standing next too. And the fact that the fence is green. My favorite colour.
I think it’s a genuine yet sweet portrait of me, how I look in my daily life and it portraits in a somewhat poetic way my my love for my blog, Polaroids and you know… a little bling. :)
I like the end of the video, caus I feel like it tells that I’m walking off to my next story with my Polaroid camera in my briefcase.
Anyway… I hope you like it.
Here are some quick backstage shots my friend SABINE PEETERS took in between takes.
Exhibits:
The lovely scenery of the day.
“aaaand…ACTION!”
I tried ‘the hiding behing my POLATRON trick’, but Dennis wasn’t really falling for it.
“camera’s rolling…TAKE 335!”
“aaaaand…IT’S A WRAP!”
Definitely keep on eye on Dennis and his GET YOUR PLANE RIGHT ON TIME blog where he’ll feature his short One Minute Portraits, other fashion related videos, street fashion photography, overall fashion week coverage, and the complementary nightlife shots from time to time.
Thank you Dennis for this lovely portrait… #liefde

A POLAROID STORY x BTHERE MAGAZINE
Yup. That’s me on the left. All dressed up in black, hair blowing in the wind.
I was very flattered when BTHERE, the magazine of Brussels Airlines asked me to be part of this ‘BRIGHT YOUNG BELGIANS’ feature with 9 other very inspiring and creative people. The main idea was to get everybody glammed up, with a touch of Vanity Fair.
How can one say no to that?
Plùs, I thought the whole thing was brilliant, because all those people bored to death on a Brussels Airline flight will grab the magazine and read about 10 interesting folks and their work. Quite the change in comparison with those damn perfume and suitcase articles, right?
But the most fun part of the day was hanging with the following very talented people:
‘The Artist’ ACHRAF AMIRI and ‘The Photograper’ ZEB DAEMEN
‘The Writer Cartoonist’ FLEUR VAN GRONINGEN – ‘The Chef’ DAVIE SCHELLEMANS – ‘The Designer’ DEEVIE VERMETTEN
‘The Musicians’ JOY WELLBOY ‘The Actor’ TITUS DEVOOGDT
‘The Fashion Designer’ LENNY LELEU
And ofcourse… lil’ ol’ me.
‘The Blogger’ aka moi
Although I was slightly nervous to go in front of the camera again (lately I’m more comfortable behind it) I’m very happy with this picture.
Thank you to Orla Mckeating & Charline for making a gal look good. Big up to Nino, for picking out this lovely MAX AZRIA BCBG dress.
Special thanks to Stephanie Duval, for believing in me and my work.
All pictures by LIEVEN DIRCKX
PS:
I’m sorry JIMMY CHOO, I love you and you are sex on heels and all that, but my god, a girl might aswell amputate her toes off.
Respect for all women rocking them on the daily. These shoes are killers.
A POLAROID STORY x FRESHCOTTON x BLEND MAGAZINE
Oktober 2010,
Hello troopers,
The year is coming to it’s end, and so is this little blog’s content…
Don’t worry. I still have a few small surprises in store, but I’ll leave that for next week.
For now, I wanted to share this little press feature with you all.
A while ago I was invited to come to AMSTERDAM (gotta love my AmsterDajumn! troopers) to participate in a little experiment and make an editorial for BLEND MAGAZINE together with 5 other bloggers :
Dennis from GET YOUR PLANE RIGHT ON TIME - Alvar from SWURDIN - Cindy from COME OVER TO THE DARK SIDE WE HAVE CANDY – Serena from BEAUTYLAB & the notorious Branko from well… DENNIS BRANKO
I was the only Belgian gal invited amongst the other fellow invitees, so I was pretty nervous.
We were asked to construct a complete editorial for one of my favorite Dutch magazines called BLEND MAGAZINE with garment from a renowned Dutch online store called FRESHCOTTON.
Together with my bestie SABINE PEETERS who ended up helping out on the shoot, we travelled to Amsterdam.
It turned out to be a very long and challenging day and I even unexpectedly ended up in the model department replacing a model that didn’t show up. Oh well…
Here’s the visual recap of that day….
Serena doing her thing in the make-up department

Thank you FRESH COTTON & WE ARE FIRST to invite me and make me a part of this experiment. I’m very grateful to meet new people and it turned out to be a learning experience.
Special shout-out to my new favorite set boys ever: DENNIS, ALVAR & RORY.
Love,
Ouni
PS:
Check out this little video recap of the day. It’s Dutch spoken, so please only watch If you are curious about my heavy Flemish seaside accent.
And yes. That’s me laying on a table….#longstory
A POLAROID STORY x ELLE MAGAZINE
YO TROOPERS!
Do I need to explain that I’m pretty excited to be featured in ELLE MAGAZINE or what?!
I’m featured together with LEAH MCSWEENEY from Married to the MOB (Most Official Bitches) and fellow colleague and blogger Stijn Verlinden from I LOVE BELGIUM.
Basically, the article is about how we use the online atmosphere to do what we do and doing it well like LL COOL J, and the importance of -net-working in this day and age.
Also. Very funny that the word ‘HUSTLER’ made it in ELLE magazine.
Special thanks to Dominique from KNOTORYUS. #swaggaonahundredthouzandtrillion
OUNI in Wonderland.
Lovely Readers,
A little month ago I was asked by DE STANDAARD MAGAZINE to do a little interview and shoot for an issue about Belgian bloggers. I was so happy that one of Belgium’s most important and reliable newspaper even considered to feature me, I didn’t hesitate for a minute.
Together with ‘Lickapella’ Louise & ‘Style4Guys’ Immanuel , 2 other young bloggers we got styled (or is it pimped?) inspired by Tim Burton’s Alice In Wonderland movie, a lovely production from the knotoryus DOMINIQUE NZEYIMANA and shot by BOY KORTEKAAS.
Some of you might, but most of you might not know that I have a little past in modelling, so in a way there was not really something to be worried about, but for some reason I was completely totally nervous about this shoot.
I mean, you can only make a good impression once…right…?
Because its the blog that got me in this OUNI IN WONDERLAND (or is it Musicland) situation, I felt that it is only more than correct that I give you guys a little peek-a-boo behind the scenes.
What?
Ofcourse…you guys are my troopers. It’s the least I could do, right?!
Hair & Make Up was done by SABINE PEETERS, one of my favorite make-up artists in Belgium.
Look at the hair… I mean…It’s curl-heaven.
I got myself stuck in this killer PAULE K killer situation. Big up to all models sporting these ones on the runway. Really. I do NOT understand how you guys survived this madness without breaking a leg, neck or nose. Scary Shit.
BOY (Yes, that is his real name, how cool is that) talked me in these various positions.
Photographers. You know how they do.
I know how this might look…but don’t worry, things turned out a little less sexy than it looks like ‘down under’.
Look at the hair. GOD. How I wish I could wake up like that every morning. (sigh…)
Voilà. That’s all for the sneak-peek part.
This is the result….
Especially for my fashionista’s (I KNOW you’re out there!!) a little side note of what I was wearing.
lovely short by KITSUNE , top by COS and butterfly bling by ATELIER 11.
Miss (not so) goodie 2 shoes dress by FAFI for ADIDAS ORIGINALS.
Check out the lovely IMMANUEL IBRAHIM killing this shot! Cuteness Galore.
And last but not least, stunning LOUISE aka DOLLFACE.
That’s All Folks.
Be ready for exciting new blogposts…spring is in the air, and lots and lots of cool stuff coming up.
Stay tuned, caus this girl is going places.
Love
Ouni.
PS: Special thanks to DOMINIQUE , SABINE and BOY for making me drop dead gorgeous. ❤
